EXHIBITION & TOUR
EARTH PHOTO 2025
Earth Photo announces its 2025 shortlist, featuring 203 powerful photographs and films by 40 outstanding photographers and filmmakers around the world.
Selected from 1,582 submissions by 250 lens artists, this year’s shortlist captures urgent, poetic and often unexpected stories about our planet, its inhabitants, and how we interact with both.
The shortlisted works will be presented in the Earth Photo 2025 exhibition, launching online, at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London, and across Forestry England sites. Now in its seventh year, Earth Photo is an international photography and film competition created by Forestry England, the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), and Parker Harris. It celebrates innovative visual storytelling that encourages conversations about our world and the challenges we face today. The photos and videos shortlisted for Earth Photo 2025 bring us stories from across the globe, from the melting sea ice of Greenland to the vanishing oases of Morocco. They also explore the lives of shepherds in the Accursed Mountains of the Balkans, the resilience of communities in La Palma post-volcanic eruption, and the preservation of mangroves in the Gambia. These stories not only highlight the pressing issues of climate change, such as disappearing habitats, polluted rivers, and climate-induced displacement, but also celebrate human ingenuity, resilience, and the deep connections between people and their environments. Through the camera’s lens, we witness both the fragility and strength of communities facing environmental challenges.
